Commissioned by arts charity, Carousel, this special edition map shows the locations of films made and produced in Brighton and Hove, Sussex, in the late 19th and early 20th century. Brighton and Hove was at the forefront of the early days of cinematography in the UK.  The map was used as part of a film festival celebrating the heritage in collaboration with Screen Archive South and the Heritage Lottery Fund.  A travelling film booth ( 2nd July - 25th November 2018) showed the original black and white films alongside new films inspired by them which were made by young people with learning disabilities.
The map uses elements of art nouveau design and type and a dark velvet cinema curtain red throughout.  It was handpainted and lettered in gouache, watercolour and ink.
